Refund policy

Core Devices – Returns, Refunds & Warranty Policy

1. Overview

Core Devices supplies specialised hardware products and hardware kits intended for technical, educational, and research use. Due to the nature of these products, returns are limited and subject to the conditions outlined below.

This policy operates in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

2. Summary of Your Rights (Australian Consumer Law)

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund if a product has a major fault, and to repair or replacement if a product fails to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major fault.

These rights apply regardless of any additional warranty offered by Core Devices.

3. Change of Mind

We do not accept returns for change of mind, including but not limited to:

  • Incorrect selection or ordering errors
  • Incompatibility with customer systems or applications
  • Products no longer required
  • Expectation mismatch

Customers are responsible for ensuring the product meets their requirements prior to purchase. If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering.

4. Faulty or Defective Products

Returns are accepted only for products that are confirmed to be faulty.

A product may be considered faulty if it:

  • Has a manufacturing defect
  • Is not of acceptable quality
  • Does not match its description
  • Is not fit for its intended purpose when used as specified

Where a fault is confirmed, Core Devices will, at its discretion:

  • Repair the product, or
  • Replace the product, or
  • Issue a refund if repair or replacement is not feasible

5. Assessment & Return Approval (RMA Process)

All return requests must:

  • Be submitted in writing to contact@coredevices.com.au
  • Include the order number
  • Include a clear description of the issue
  • Include photos or videos where applicable

Returns must be approved by Core Devices before any item is sent back. Unauthorised returns will not be accepted.

6. Condition of Returned Items

Approved returns must:

  • Be returned in reasonable condition
  • Include all supplied components, cables, accessories, and packaging
  • Show no signs of unauthorised modification, misuse, or physical damage

Products damaged due to incorrect installation, wiring errors, operation outside specified limits, or misuse are not considered faulty.

7. Return Shipping

Where a product is confirmed to be faulty, Core Devices will cover reasonable return shipping costs or provide a prepaid return label.

If, upon inspection, a returned product is found not to be faulty, the return will be rejected and the product will be returned to the customer at the customer’s expense.

Core Devices is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit where return shipping is arranged by the customer without prior approval.

8. Warranty (Hardware Products & Kits)

Unless otherwise stated, Core Devices hardware products are supplied with a 30-day limited warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects under normal use and operation as specified in the product documentation.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Damage caused by incorrect installation or wiring
  • Use outside specified electrical, mechanical, or environmental limits
  • Modification, reverse engineering, or unauthorised repair
  • Damage caused by external equipment or power supplies

During the warranty period, Core Devices will, at its discretion, repair or replace the product if a manufacturing defect is confirmed. Refunds will be provided only where repair or replacement is not feasible.

This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

9. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are non-returnable unless faulty:

  • Customised or configured products
  • Software, firmware, or digital components
  • Products used outside their specified operating conditions
  • Products damaged through misuse or incorrect application

10. Refund Processing

Approved refunds (where applicable) will:

  • Be processed to the original payment method
  • Be issued only after inspection of the returned item
  • Typically be completed within 5–10 business days of approval
